Every child enjoys summer break. They have no schoolwork to complete. They may wake up whenever they choose. Moreover, they are free to socialize with their pals during the week. Summer vacation is the most wonderful time of year for children.

But, every summer vacation must come to an end. If you begin the back-to-school preparation process a few weeks before classes begin, you may prevent a sudden change with a house full of anxious kids.


Try the following advice to ease the transition back to school for your children:

1. Change their sleeping pattern. Introduce your children to a school-appropriate sleep pattern by having them go to bed one hour earlier each week. Continue changing their bedtime until their sleeping patterns correspond to those that will be maintained throughout the school year.

2. Assignment of homework. It's true that youngsters detest homework. Nonetheless, it is essential to maintain a sharp mind. Several websites on the Internet provide free, printable worksheets for students of all ages to use outside of school.

Maintain a positive attitude, and strive to provide enjoyable homework. Also, be flexible with due dates. Considering that it is summer break, your children deserve to spend some time resting. One assignment per subject due at the conclusion of the week is sufficient.

3. Increase curfews. If you're like the majority of parents, you probably extend your children's curfews throughout the summer. A few weeks prior to the start of school, be more stringent about when your children must be home and which days they can go out with friends.
  • Let your children to maintain their summertime curfew on Fridays and Saturdays. 
  • From Sunday through Thursday, impose a "school-ready" curfew. 
  • This will prepare your children psychologically for the new set of school regulations that will be implemented during the upcoming school year.

4. Make the transition exciting. August represents the beginning of another tedious school year for your children. As a parent, you can't help but be amazed at how quickly your children are developing! Remind them of all the opportunities they will soon have access to in the upcoming school year.


Be resolute in your decisions as you prepare your children for the transition back to school. When you first apply these adjustments, the majority of youngsters are reluctant. Yet, after around one week, the majority of kids begin to adapt to the new routines.
